Rainy Spring Saturday Design Date

Suzanne Manlove | May 26, 2016 | No Comments

Did you know that the first Saturday of every month from April to November, there is a giant flea market in Arlington? I’m always amazed at how many people DON’T know about this sale.  The Arlington Civitan Market is a great way to satisfy the explorer in you, and to find great stuff for your home. Held on the 5-level parking garage next to W&L High School, it’s always fun to see what turns up for sale and meet some of the interesting sellers! My husband and I go regularly— Mark collects vinyl records and I hunt for vintage pottery and other small items for accessorizing projects. DESIGN DATE: Crossing the River

Suzanne Manlove | Mar 24, 2016 | No Comments

This month’s Design Date requires crossing the Potomac to nearby Bethesda Row for a little getaway inside the beltway. My husband and I enjoyed this Design Date in January, and pretended we were on vacation – one of our favorite games. (Who knew there was so much to do in Bethesda?!)

Start your date with shopping at Urban Country for inspiration on your next home project or just to admire a few pretty things.

Need a gift for an upcoming birthday or Mother’s Day? This is the place! They carry many lines of beautiful furniture in their showroom, representing several vendors that Arlington Home Interiors uses in our designs.

DESIGN DATE: Renwick Gallery’s “Wonder,” followed by Dessert

Suzanne Manlove | Feb 25, 2016 | No Comments

This month I’m sharing a new concept I’m calling “Design Date”- a chance to grab your partner, your BFF, or the whole family and inject some beauty and creativity into your day. I promise you’ll be inspired, and you might even be able to translate something you see or experience into your own home. If you have any recommendations for a great Design Date – send me a note on the Arlington Home Interiors Facebook page and “like” us while you are there.

Renwick's Gallery Wonder Exhibit

Janet Echelman, 1.8

The Renwick Gallery’s Wonder exhibit is currently one of the most Instagrammed exhibits in a long while, but don’t just look at the photos from your friends, you really have to go to see it yourself. It’s free and it takes about an hour to tour the whole building. The gallery re-opened last November after a major two-year renovation with this incredible show. Nine leading contemporary artists were invited to take over different galleries in the building, creating site-specific installations inspired by Renwick Gallery. Click the video image below to view a short video explaining the concept.
