Rainy Spring Saturday Design Date

Did you know that the first Saturday of every month from April to November, there is a giant flea market in Arlington? I’m always amazed at how many people DON’T know about this sale.  The Arlington Civitan Market is a great way to satisfy the explorer in you, and to find great stuff for your home. Held on the 5-level parking garage next to W&L High School, it’s always fun to see what turns up for sale and meet some of the interesting sellers! My husband and I go regularly— Mark collects vinyl records and I hunt for vintage pottery and other small items for accessorizing projects. Besides pottery, I’ve purchased antlers, tie dye sheets, toys, books, lamps, baskets, jewelry, clothing and small furniture.

Tips for shopping Civitan:

  • Come early for the best finds – before 8am if you can!
  • Bring cash.
  • Yes, you can haggle!
  • Dress comfortably, its always cooler on the lower levels, and the top level can be sweltering when the sun is shining.

Check the calendar for the next Civitan sale.  Maybe I’ll see you there!

It’s not very pretty…we’re in a parking garage.

Loved this vendor making his own tie dye.

For a sweet hit of energy on your way to the sale, visit the Sugar Shack near the intersection of S. Glebe Road and Columbia Pike for amazing donuts and coffee – they open at 6am.

After an early morning spree at the Civitan sale, I wholeheartedly recommend that you take a nap!
